Periodontal Surgical Therapy
Traditional gum surgery procedure is also referred to as flap surgery, osseous surgery or pocket reduction surgery. Our doctors gently lift back the gum to remove the tartar that has accumulated below the gumline. The gums then are repositioned back on the teeth and will heal by forming a new healthy attachment with shallower pockets. In some instances, we have to add some bone graft particulate and cover it with a collagen membrane in order to regenerate some of the bone that is missing.
